Child Care plus+ Self-Study Course on Inclusion

The Child Care plus+ self-study course is designed for early childhood professionals who may have limited training opportunities. Participants complete learning activities without leaving their own homes and/or early childhood programs. Independent activities and follow-up learning assignments require approximately 3-4 hours per week for two semesters. Hours and credits may be applied to merit pay awards, CDA renewal, and elementary teacher re-certification.

The purpose of this course is:

  • To strengthen participants' understanding of inclusion and children with disabilities.
  • To help participants learn and use strategies which allow children of differing abilities and needs to fully participate in the early childhood program.
  • To focus on the role of the early childhood professional as a member of a child's early intervention team.

Participants should be:

  • currently working in a child care or other early childhood setting.
  • working directly with a child with a disability in a group setting.
  • prepared to complete two semesters of comprehensive course work.
