Child Care plus+ Self-Study Course on Inclusion

The Child Care plus+ self-study course is designed for early childhood professionals who may have limited training opportunities. Participants complete learning activities without leaving their own homes and/or early childhood programs. Independent activities and follow-up learning assignments require approximately 3-4 hours per week for two semesters. Hours and credits may be applied to merit pay awards, CDA renewal, and elementary teacher re-certification.

The purpose of this course is:

To strengthen participants' understanding of inclusion and children with disabilities.
To help participants learn and use strategies which allow children of differing abilities and needs to fully participate in the early childhood program.
To focus on the role of the early childhood professional as a member of a child's early intervention team.

Participants should be:

currently working in a child care or other early childhood setting.
working directly with a child with a disability in a group setting.
prepared to complete two semesters of comprehensive course work.
willing to complete evaluations of the course.
