Access to Quality Child Care in Montana:
Exploring Parent and Provider Perspectives on Inclusion
Mission: This research project was designed around five studies which explore child care options for children with disabilities and their families in Montana.

Outcomes: These five studies are expected to add to current knowledge about quality, availability, and program practices specific to parents and families of children with disabilities. Montana Child Care providers and parents of young children will be asked to respond to questions about child care in their communities. Study participants include:

  • licensed/registered child care programs
  • parents of young children with and without disabilities
  • early intervention programs
  • school districts
Studies were designed to gather information about:
  • access, supply and demand for families of young children
  • current capacity of Montana's child care system
  • child care program quality

Project Description: This three year (October 1, 2000 to September 30, 2003) research project was funded by the Child Care Bureau which is a bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.
