Graduate Preparation Project

Mission: To offer a Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies with emphasis in early childhood and special education.

Outcomes: Components of the Graduate Preparation Project include the following:

    • Students will leave the program with the expertise to meet practitioner standards presented by the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) and the National Association for the Education of Yound Children (NAEYC).
    • The number of early childhood special education practitioners in Montana and surrounding states will be increased.

This project provides:

1) competency-based course work designed to provide advanced training in early childhood education, early childhood special education, inclusion, and strategies for including young children with low-incidence and severe disabilities

2) state-of-the-art distance education techniques, intensive face-to-face practical experience, and focused field experiences

3) compensation that includes full tuition/fees, textbooks, a participation stipend, technology support, and travel expenses for a week-long summer seminar

Project Description: The GPP is a five year personnel preparation project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Office of Special Programs. It is a collaborative effort of The University of Montana School of Education and Child Care plus+: The Center on Inclusion in Early Childhood.

Training Period: October 1, 2004- September 30, 2009
